AMC Space-A Terminal Directory
Air Mobility Command (AMC) passenger terminals are the official departure and arrival points for Space-Available (Space-A) military travel. Operated by the U.S. Air Force, these terminals provide eligible military travelers and their dependents access to government aircraft that have seats available after all mission-essential passengers have been accommodated. The primary official resource for AMC flight schedules and terminal information is the AMC Travel Site. This directory consolidates contact information for 40+ terminals across CONUS, the Pacific, and Europe to help you plan your trip.
CONUS Terminals
The continental United States has several major AMC passenger terminals that serve as the primary departure points for overseas Space-A travel. Dover Air Force Base (Dover, Delaware) is the most active East Coast gateway, with frequent missions to Ramstein AB in Germany, Lajes Field in the Azores, and Rota NAS in Spain. Travis Air Force Base(Fairfield, California) is the nation's busiest military aerial port and the premier West Coast hub for Pacific travel, with Patriot Express rotator flights to Japan, Korea, and Hawaii. Joint Base Charleston (North Charleston, South Carolina) offers strong transatlantic options including Ramstein, Aviano, and Lajes. On the East Coast, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (Wrightstown, New Jersey) rounds out the major CONUS options with regular missions to Ramstein and Rota. Inland terminals such as Scott AFB (Illinois), McConnell AFB (Kansas), and Pope Army Airfield (North Carolina) offer more limited Space-A traffic but can be valuable departure options depending on mission scheduling.
Pacific Terminals
The Pacific region is served by a well-connected network of AMC terminals. On the U.S. mainland, Travis AFB acts as the gateway to the entire WESTPAC circuit. From Travis, travelers can reach Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (Honolulu, Hawaii), which serves as the mid-Pacific crossroads for both eastbound and westbound missions. Continuing west, Andersen AFB (Yigo, Guam) is a US territory terminal providing an important stop between Hawaii and the Far East.
Kadena Air Base (Okinawa, Japan) is one of the busiest WESTPAC terminals, offering connections to Yokota AB, Travis AFB, Andersen AFB, and Osan AB. Yokota Air Base (Fussa, Tokyo, Japan) serves as the primary USAF hub in mainland Japan, with frequent missions throughout the Pacific. Osan Air Base (Pyeongtaek, South Korea) is the primary Korean hub, with Patriot Express rotator flights available to CONUS. The WESTPAC circuit—connecting Travis, Hickam, Andersen, Kadena, Yokota, and Osan—means experienced Space-A travelers can often island-hop across the entire Pacific region by working multiple terminals.
European Terminals
For European travel, Ramstein Air Base (Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany) is the dominant hub within U.S. European Command (EUCOM). As the largest U.S. Air Force base outside the United States, Ramstein offers the most frequent missions both to CONUS and within Europe, including Patriot Express rotator flights back to Dover AFB and McGuire. It is the preferred starting point for any European Space-A adventure.
Supporting terminals in Europe include Spangdahlem Air Base (Germany), which provides additional airlift options to Ramstein, Aviano, and Rota. Aviano Air Base (Aviano, Italy) connects southern Europe and the Mediterranean to the broader EUCOM network. Naval Station Rota (Rota, Spain) is the primary naval Space-A option in Europe, serving as a gateway to southern Europe and North Africa. Finally, Lajes Field on Terceira Island in the Portuguese Azores serves as a strategic mid-Atlantic stopover with more limited but occasionally available Space-A seats.
What is Virtual Roll Call (VRC)?
Virtual Roll Call (VRC) is a system that allows eligible Space-A travelers to sign up for flights remotely, without being physically present at the terminal. Instead of traveling to the base in advance and waiting in person, you can submit your Space-A registration by email to participating terminals. When a mission is called, you will receive a notification and must report to the terminal within the specified time window—typically 90 minutes—to claim your seat.
VRC significantly reduces the “wait game” of traditional Space-A travel. Terminals that support VRC are flagged in the directory above. To sign up, you generally send an email to the terminal with your name, rank, category, number of dependents, and desired destinations. Space-A Central's Signup Generator can draft this email for you automatically.
What is Patriot Express?
Patriot Express (PE) refers to the scheduled rotator flights operated by AMC under contract with commercial airlines. Unlike opportunistic Space-A on cargo or training missions, Patriot Express flights run on published schedules between specific terminal pairs—most notably Travis AFB to Yokota/Kadena, and Dover/McGuire to Ramstein. They use standard commercial-style passenger aircraft rather than military cargo aircraft, providing assigned seating and checked baggage service.
Patriot Express flights are primarily filled with PCS (Permanent Change of Station) passengers moving on orders, but Space-A travelers fill any remaining seats. Because schedules are published in advance, Patriot Express routes are easier to plan around than opportunistic airlift. Terminals that support Patriot Express are flagged throughout this directory. Check the Schedules page for current Patriot Express routing information.
